Out of your depth? 5 Reasons why you need to call a Plumber

Most of us think we can do it ourselves:

“All I need is a spanner and 5 minutes”

“I don’t need to call in the pros”

“If the internet says I can DIY, then surely I can DIY!”

Plumbing involves aspects that you can’t undertake as they will risk your safety – and your family’s – as well as your home, by trying to solve various plumbing issues yourself.

Why call a plumber? KD Plumbing are qualified professional plumbers on the North Shore, and today, we’re here to tell you why you need to call a qualified plumber!

Low water pressure

Having low water pressure is one of the most frustrating things to come home to, especially in the shower. Picture this: you’ve just gotten home from work, you’re tired and ready to relax. You jump in the shower and drip, drip: the water pressure is terrible and unless you keep clumsily sidestepping around the shower, your shoulders will get cold.

Low water pressure doesn’t just affect the shower; it could cause problems in your kitchen or your laundry, too.
There are several reasons why your home is suffering from low water pressure: a clog up of debris or pipe corrosion, or a leak, which might be causing damage to your building’s foundations!

No hot water

Ain’t nobody got time to warm up water like we did back in the day which meant firing up the stove so when the hot water goes cold, call KD Plumbing to sort the problem.

There are many reasons why your hot water isn’t working (depending on whether your system is electric or gas), but instead of wasting time trying to figure out the issue, let us take a look at it, diagnose the problem, and create a solution.

It could be a small, simple repair, like replacing a blown fuse, but if the system needs to be replaced, we’ll safely remove the old unit and replace it with a new one.

Leaking taps

Drip, drip, drip, what an annoying sound!

A dripping tap is not only frustrating, it’s wasteful: a tap that is dripping can waste hundreds if not thousands of litres of water in a year! Water is a valuable resource, so we need to do whatever we can to save it wherever possible.

A leaking tap is one of the most wasteful plumbing faults.
(And if that isn’t enough to get you to call a plumber to fix your leaking taps, think about who’s paying more than they need to for water bills: you! Why pay extra for water you’re not using and do not need?)

Sewer blocked

Not the most glamourous topic, we get it, but it does happen. And you want the issue solved as quickly as possible – we do too!
Flushing multiple times, leaking toilet cisterns, and a plunger that’s working often signal a sewer issue.

So why should you call a plumber? We can identify the problem and provide a solution to efficiently solve your blocked drain.

We often find tree roots are a problem. As they grow, they’re super strong, and they can puncture your pipes, cause holes, and even wrap around and crush your sewer line!

Another common cause of a blocked toilet or sewer blockage is flushing foreign objects down the toilet. There are only two things that should ever be flushed down your toilet, and one is toilet paper (we’ll leave the other one to you to think of…)

Water damage

If you suspect water damage is impacting your home or office, your much better off getting it looked at sooner rather than later.

The longer you leave water damage, the higher the risk you take against further damage towards the foundations that make up your house (like wood) as well as carpets and rugs. It’s simple: the longer you wait, the worse the damage will be.

You’re also inviting mould to start growing in your home, and don’t get us started on that horrible musty air.
